Hi
Just read a few posts about Orange.
We are not BR yet but will be very soon - I assume that the OR will inform Orange as we will have to list them on our SOA.
We don't owe them anything - we intend to keep up the contract (if we can) as we use the phones for business and having the number is important.
Are Orange complete bar-stewards with BR? If so has anyone any suggestions of who to change to _ I assume if we do Orange would try to get the full value of the contract from us?
Or maybe they are great and will allow us to carry on as we are 
Looking forward to some feedback...

I have no idea if Orange, in particular, will allow you to keep up the contract but if they don't then the remainder of the contract costs will be included in your bankruptcy.
Seems to me it's in their best interest to allow the contract to continue.

| from what I've seen, most people who keep theirs dont put them down as a creditor, if you owe them no money, then they possibly arent... for example, car insurance, would you put them as a creditor if you owed them nothing? |

Hi I was with Orange, for a new contract a month before BR, I was going to do a DMP but circumstances changed so I couldnt, anyway I rang them before BR, and told them my intentions they checked with Retention and Bankruptcy team (Odd name) and they said that they would bar the account, close it down and put their details on the bankruptcy estate, they are now threatening me with Fraud which I need to sort.
So in summary Orange will BAR and wont convert to PAYG

it was orange that terminated me after br
i have since had three bills and phoned numerous times even though they terminated me after finding i was br after last phone call i had to send PROOF of br to them!!!!!!!!!!!
for info collections operations orange global house senhouse rd darlington co . durham dl1 4yb
sent them proof two weeks ago
ps got another bill in on wednesday

| no or allowed me to have contract i just found my phone bared as they say fully up to date with contract and i phoned to complain that my phone wasnt working thats when after getting passed to numerous deptments i was told i had broken my contract !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I didn't put my mobile contract on my SOA as I didn't owe them any money. When I spoke to the OR I asked if I could keep my mobile and they said yes, and I've still got it.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

I do not quite understand this issue with contract mobile phones being cut off.
It seems as if we have people disconnected who have gone bankrupt. I am with Orange and my phone is still connected and I went bankrupt in October. I do need my Contract number for my business. If orange took this number off me without giving me the option of moving this number to PAYG, I would be very annoyed and take this matter further, as they would depriving me of my living to some extent.
The only reasons I can think of for these people being disconnected is for the following reasons:
In debt to the phone company and included in bankruptcy
The OR not allowing it for some reason
Letting the phone company know that they are bankrupt.
I just do not understand it because if you carry on paying your contract phone bill then this is not a debt. If the phone company cuts you off during the contract and you are up to date with payments ,then they are the losers at the end of the day.
It would be very easy for me to change my mobile number on most of my advertising, but it is yellow pages that would be a problem, because they would have already printed it. Might acquire a PAYG number before updating my yellow pages advert again just in case I get cut off.
I know people are just telling us of their experiences about mobile contract phones which is fair enough, but unfortunately most of them are bad. Are there any more bankrupt people apart from me who have got to keep their mobile phone contract throughout their undischarged period?

I did read your post. Just looking for a few more positive feedbacks like your's about people who kept their phones, for my own piece of mind.
I need a bit of reassurance that I might keep my phone yet.
I get a little panicky when I read of people who have had their phones cut off. I think I will stop read posts with the topic “mobile phones” as I start sweating.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'd say that in summary if you owe Orange nothing and the OR is fine for you to go forward with a contract then Orange need not be made aware of BR and as such you can continue with a contract.
Naturally if they are a creditor and you have arrears the Or is going to contact them and you will have the contract cancelled and no doubt they will idiotically chase you for the balance of contract value even though you are BR.
I'll keep yo uposted as and when we do go BR...
