Well Monday is the day of destiny for me.
I feel a bit concerned now I must admit, but I know once tuesday comes I will feel much better.
My question to everyone is do you feel that bankruptcy has had a positive effect on your life? I am kinda of looking at it as a chance to start over financially but also in other aspects like my career choice etc!! (or at least i hope i feel like that tuesday)

The common misperception (big word for a Friday!) is that bankruptcy is some metophoric (even bigger word!) big stick to beat someone over the head with, when in contrast bankruptcy is actually there to give people a second chance, gone are the days of debtor's prisons and punishment for debt and bankruptcy should not be viewd as punishement. Okay there is the risk of a BRO for a small minority of cases where 'wrong doing' is established but thankfully these are few and far between when you take into account how many BO's are made each day. Good luck for Monday and if you need advice or support over the weekend you know where we all are. Take heed in the many positive posts this week from people who have gone through th eprocess in the last fews days - it really will not be anywhere near as bad as you think!
Many many people go forward with a line drawn under the situation and had the fresh start that bankruptcy is supposed to give, here's hoping it has a positive outcome for you, but remember it is down in part to your state of mind so positive thoughts on the way forward

Had my hearing on Wednesday and OR interview yesterday. It was absolutely fine. I actually slept for 10hrs last night. Its the first time in weeks I woke up in the morning and the world seemed a much brighter place. I can look in the post box in the mornings and answer the telephone without my stomach sinking down to my feet. I have gone through my whole house this morning cleaning which is a bit weird because I hate housework. You will feel a lot better next week. Good luck xx

Thanks for the responses, it is so nice to come on this site and read the feedback of people who have been through it and there experiences, and how positive they have all been afterwards, and of course the help of the experts. I know Monday will come and go and I expect life will be no different on Tuesday except hopefully a lot less stressful Nno longer worrying about calls from credit cards etc.
The only hurdle that will be left will be keeping hold of my house and car! but I guess its one step at a time.

Hi mab :)Good luck for Monday. I would say in some ways the BR had an immediate positive effect, but not completely. Only this week we had a bailiff turn up 2 months after the BR date! So I think you need to think that yes, there was an instant relief, but it can take a while to feel like it is all completely in the distance.

I went BR on 10th Jan and it was the best thing I ever did! I feel like a new person! I still have not had details on how to pay my monthly payments back yet but sure I will soon. My interview with the OR was fine and to be honest she was lovely.
Good luck!

I did it yesterday and today I feel like I've lost 20 years! - Almost a teenager again. This time round I don't plan on making the same mistakes. Try not to worry Best Wishes Leah x |
