can someone tell me what hapens next? I was declare BR on Thursday, saw the OR the same day. I was told my car was exempt and as we are on benefits there will be no ipa. But I've no idea what happens now - Does the OR call or write regularly? What do I have to do? The process of the BR had taken over my life and I just don't know what to do next. Thanks in advance for any input Leah x |

You don't have to do anything! You should get a letter stating that your car is exempt, and you may hear from the OR to check if your circumstances have changed, and if you get put forward for ED you will hear from them then.
I only heard from my OR in reply to a couple of questions, and then with a new I & E form when I moved house.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Hi
the OR will continue to look through your case and if necessary request any further details required. You may well hear in a few months time that you are to be considered for early discharge or you may never hear from the OR again in which case you will automatically be discharged from Bankruptcy on the anniversary of your court date.
Each office works differently but from what you have described my money is on early discharge.
Difficult though it may seem, as it is all still very fresh, I would try hard to put the whole matter behind you now and begin to build your new life.

Hey Leah
Not really a reply to your post as I have just posted something similar. It was just to see how you were feeling after the stress of last week. Hope things are looking up.

Hi Shirley, At the moment I don't know what to feel, relief that its over, guilt because I wish I could've sorted things differently, secure in knowing that no matter how bad things get I will not ever go down the credit route again or stress and shame for feeling that I've let my family down. Maybe for now its ok to feel all of the above. One thing I'm sure of is that it WAS the RIGHT thing for me. As you say One day at a time. Best wishes to you and try not to worry too much, as long as you're honest with the OR, They are there to help. Leah x |

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I think we all wish we could have sorted things out differently and it isn't like we didn't try. Looking back I can't believe how stupid I was getting into that amount of debt in the first place. For those people who think that BR is the easy way out they should try reading the posts on here because easy is the last thing it is. Even afterwards. Although I now have no debts I will still be struggling to make ends meet. I was lucky, I had the support of my family, but I know a lot of people don't have that and it must be really hard for them. I hope everything works out for you and keep in touch.
