hi im about to make myself bankrupt how long do you get before your house gets repossessed and you have to move out

If you can keep up mortgage repayments and your house is in negative equity, you may not lose the house.

Very true Jan

It also depends if you have any children in your house. If you have, then you have at least 12 months before the trustee will even consider selling the house as the interest of the children outweighs the interest of the creditors.

After 12 months the interest of the creditors will outweigh everyone elses.

You should also note that if you intend to stay in the house you need to maintain the mortgage payments because the mortgage company will have you out well before the potential 12 months grace from the trustee.
