We have recently bought a house and discovered that since purchasing, the previous owners have declared themselves bankrupt. THey have not redirected any of their mail or told people where they are living and we think they may have declared themselves bankrupt under our address (their previous address). What are the likely consequences for us?

I would write to Experian and Equifax and get a credit report on yourselves at your new address.

This will flag up any connections and you can then inform both companies of any incorrect information.

They will also explain how you can financially disassociate yourselves from others so your credit will be unaffected.

I hope this helps

Kind Regards,

Brett England
