Message please for Melanie.n I have my BR court date for this week and have almost finished completing the form online. I am beside myself with worry over the OR interview. I have had 4 years of stress and upset (thats putting it lightly) culminating in a creditor petitioning for my BR over a guarantor I agreed for a family member. The outcome now is I have nothing have been very ill having had a complete mental breakdown last year and am now under the Mental Health Team and under going psychotherapy - not pleasant. I need an end to this! I have been reading your reassurances to other potential BR's during the past few weeks and it has been a comfort to me at this time :o). I have a question about car, though I pretty much know the answer. I have a car of low value max £2K but it requires work beyond its value to keep it running, my family are holding out on paying for repairs to see if I am allowed to keep the vehicle it is practically worthless as it is but I will need the car to get from my mothers home where I am now living in the middle of nowhere, to my hospital apponintments and to drive my daughter around. Do you think I will be able to keep the car. Also I have no income due to ill health and having to resign my directorship due to the BR order looming. I am not asking to keep any money if I had a new income when I am better as currently my family are caring for me and my daughter, does this sound strange, I am worried that the OR will think its odd, I have nothing, but I have listed everything on the form and have no property or any personal possessions of any value. Sorry to waffle I have kept the form straight forward for the OR and note your comments on other posts regarding keeping the statement to the OR short and simple dont worry! Thank you in advance. I also wonder how long I will be kept waiting before the OR contacts me my hearing is at 3.30pm I am guessing I will be contacted that afternoon and hopefully I will be able to a telephone interview the following day. What do you think? Feeling sick and like a frightened rabbit in the head lights.
if you have written estimates detailing the necessary repairs and costs ensure the examiner has a copy at your earliest convenience.
If not then list the faults yourself stating your own (researched) estimated cost of repair together with an invitation for the vehicle to be inspected by the OR's representative.
If it truly is worth nothing and will remain so unless relatives meet the repair costs then you need the OR to exempt the vehicle based on the current NIL value and then arrange for the repairs.
