Both me and hubby went bankrupt in August 2007. We looked every week in the local paper and our notices have never been in, until TODAY Eeeeeek, hubby was reading someone elses paper at work and his notice is in! Blimey, thought they had forgotten about us, wonder why it has taken so long to be printed? and I have still not seen mine, (hubby has torn the notice out as he really does not want anyone at work to know and we have kept it secret all this time, the notice has our last 2 addresses, his job, his full name, etc)
Anyway, I received, a few weeks ago, a letter from OR saying my case was closed, etc and a breakdown of costs, (I was umemployed and had no IPA) The OR costs were about £1700 and I had only paid my court fee and that was it, so no dividend to be paid to the creditors.
But in hubby's notice today, it says OR intends to pay creditors 3p in the pound. How can this be? He paid his court fee and 3 months of Nil Tax, that should just about cover the £1700 OR fee, so where would this 3p/£ be coming from???? Our house was in neg equity by about £40,000 so no money there. I am a bit confused. |

Thats a strange one! the only advice i can give is for you to go through to the OR and ask them what is going on...it would be far better to make one phone call and have their explanation than spend your time worrying, let me know how it goes and what their explanation is, I am curious

mmm, another strange things is the OR is different, he was with one at the start of bankruptcy, then transferred to RTLU at another location but the newspaper states he is now with ANOTHER one down south! very odd |

mystery solved! He is now at the National Dividends Unit, apparently he was due a tax refund of just over £1000 so this enables some creditors to be paid at a rate of 3pence in the pound, how on earth this is worked out against a debt of nearly £100,000, I don't know, numbers are not my strong point hence the bankruptcy. |
