i am currently filling out the big form 6.28 i think it is... and am on section 8....
where it says on section 8.4 does anyone have an interest in any of the properties that you own rent or lease? this interest may be as a subtenant, guarantor of the mortgage etc etc

I live in a 2 bedroom flat and rent the second room to a friends (a couple) who make a household contribution of £800 which I have included in my income.

do I need to include them in this section? as I would really prefer them not to be involved and don't want to give their names. i havent even told them I intend to go bankrupt and hope I dont need to! so do I need to put them on this??
thank you for any help or advice :))

Hi

I believe your friends come under the sub tenant category even if theirs is an informal arrangement with you. Therefore they should be included.

You have quite correctly declared the rental income so the examiner will be aware anyway. I do not think the examiner is likely to contact your friends in this situation.

The SoA is a document from which the OR bases any line of questioning. If you declare that there are sub tenants, but had "conveniently" neglected to declare income then of course questions would be asked and they may well be contacted.

I suspect that to be a major reason as to why the question is asked at all.

Therefore if you declare income then the tenant information is also required.

But just to confirm, as the 2 pieces of information will balance and show you to be honest then I can't see why anything would come of it.
