Can anyone tell me who these people are? They have written me a letter saying they are sorry I have recently been declared bankrupt (how did they know this?) and that a fund has been set up to stop the increasing number of house repossessions due to bankruptcy.

Their service apparently ensures my creditors are repaid and the bankruptcy cancelled making me solvent again, correcting entries with credit reference agencies.

Has anyone else had a letter like this? What does it mean? I have only been bankrupt a week how come they know about it.

Any comments, advice gratefully received

Ignore this letter, they are only out to make money from you.

All they will do is offer you a remortgage so that you can pay your creditors off, so you will be no better off.

They know about your BR from the Insolvency Register as that is public knowledge and they trawl through to get peoples names off there.

Consign it to the shredder.

Thank you so much Kallis3 for your prompt response and for your advice. I will most happy consign this correspondence to the shredder without a further thought!

They are only interested in people made bankrupt ( usually by HMRC, Amex Travis Perkins and a few other regulars) and who are home owners with equity.

People who petiton for themselves VERY RARELY have equity in their house whereas people who are being made bankrupt quite often do have equity.

Unfortunately there are far too many of these sort of companies about, and not enough people manage to find a forum like this before falling for the sales talk.

Remember - if it sounds too good to be true, it most probaby is.

Wow its actually very scary because if I did not know about this forum I would have called them, because I do not know any better. I am so embrassed and anxious about this awful mess I have managed to get myself into. There are so many desperate, honest hard working people who fall into hard times like myself who just do not have a clue what to do when these kinds of people get in contact!!

Thank you all for saving me!!!

I received 4 missives within 2 days. I hadn't though about the Insolvency Reg. I thought that the Court/OR had sold my details as The driving agency does.
I was made BR at 2.00pm on Tuesday 31 March and received my first 'junk' on Thursday and I never seem to get post that quick.
They are very believable.

Such a pity that the Insolvency Register is a public record. All sorts of these sorts of companies will contact you at some time.

As long as you remember that they are looking out for No.1 - themselves you will be ok.

As to the court selling your details, I don't think they would be allowed to.
