Hi, I am considering going bank rupt, I was in Court today and they said it was my best option to do so, I owe around £19,000 and have outgoings of around £1000 per month (I take home £1170), if I choose Banruptcy, which I want to do after reading about it, is it liable that the OR will try to make me pay the debts as mentioned (Payment Order)? i just want a clean start.
Thank you for yout time. |

Hi s82 and welcome to the forum. Have you included repayments to your creditors in your £1000 outgoings?
Whether or not you have to make any payments into an IPA depends on the amount of surplus you have. If you have more than £100 left after your outgoings you will be expected to make payments for 3 years. There is a table on my blog that shows roughly how much you can expect to pay.
Do you own your own home or have any assets that may be at risk in BR?
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
