Hi,

After a failing DMP and no IVA solution I submitted my bankruptcy petition on Monday. I was declared bankrupt and spoke briefly to an OR. On the insolvency register my details have been registered and under the status it shows an automatic discharge in a year - does this mean the OR has stated this and there will be not further payments etc due? Also will the OR contact me or do I need to contact them?

Thanks
Sonia

Hi Ska,

Being on the insolvency register means you are Bankrupt, The OR will contact you in due course (normally within 10 days)

As far as the automatic discharge is concerned this can change at any point over the twelve months and you will be updated at your interview.

All the best,

Thanks for your reply.

I've heard that my bankruptcy will be advertised in the local paper, is this true? If so, would this happen this week or after my meeting with the OR?

The advert will be placed by the OR so it will normally be placed after your meeting.
