Hi well the day will be here tomorrow for our BR hearing. Its at Newcastle Court. Looks very large and imposing. I have been fine upto now but as the day get closer the nerves are starting to grow. First time I will have ever been in a court and Im expecting old men in wigs. Sure its not like this now. Im sure it will be fine and will let everyone know how we get on.

Oh anyone been to the Newcastle Court.

Thanks

Mick

There shouldn't be any wigs - not on the judges anyway :) I'm handing my forms in on Friday and prob won't get the hearing until the 11th May but I'm starting to get a bit nervous as well. Just remember that the judge can't refuse to declare you BR so long as you are aware of the implications and have sought advice from the CCCS/Insolvency Practitioners.

Hopefully someone on this board has been to Newcastle court and will let you know how they got on.]

Good luck

Hi

Newcastle Court is OK

The clerks are fine ( on 1st floor) and manage to give you some privacy while going through the forms.

You then need to wait outside the judges chambers ( basically along the corridor! ) and you will see the judge. The last couple of times we have been there the judge has seeneveryone ALL together ( 11 people the last time I was there!)

you can then collect your br certificate after a short wait - the coffee shop accross the road is a lot better than waiting inside the court itself.

Hi just got back from the court and it was no where near as bad as what i thought it was going to be. The clerk just had a quick look through our forms and we signed them and then had a 2 hr wait to see the judge who was very calm and softly spoken. We were only in with the judge for about 5 mins and then we were declared BR.

Now when we got home my wife had a letter from a debt company that she had never heard of or forgotten about. This debt was not listed on the application and is for about £3000. Is it to late to add this debt onto our application when the OR gets in touch. I hope its not because we had all the relief after the court nad then come home to this letter. She cant remember anything about the debt and they told us is was taken out in 1997 but that she made her last payment in 2007. Hope this can be added.

Thanks

Mick

Just mention the £3k debt to the OR when you have the interview and it should be fine. Glad to hear the court visit went ok.

Thanks again. So do you all think it will be ok that the wife missed out a debt on her form and to just mention it to the OR when they call.
