 myself and my husband have debts around 21000

myself and my husband have debts around 21000 some are joint we are currently with a debt management (PAYPLAN) paying £175.00 a month but finding it a struggle keeping up with the rent and other household bills and considering bankruptcy there is only my income as my husband was laid off work in september 09 I get around £170 a week wage and 99-00 a week child tax credit and 279 a month working tax credit also 130 child benefit every 4 weeks for the children we have ages 16+14 , can we both go bankrupt and do you have to pay the fees upfront

Hi Whisky and welcome!
It sounds like bankruptcy could be a good option for you. One of the experts im sure will advise further.
You would have to pay bankruptcy fees upfront. Currently it is £510 each but as your husband is not working you might get a reduction for his fees.

He does'nt get any benefits either

Hi

If he can show he gets job seekers allowance or any other income related financial help from the state, this would also allow him a reduction in fees. If you need to know for sure you could give the court a call and speak to the bankruptcy clerk who would be able to give you more information.
