Hubby went BR on 12th Feb. In October last year he changed employers and it appears his previous employer didn't inform Tax office of the car he had for the short time he was there (Feb 08 - October 08)

Today he received his new tax coding for this year and his code has been reduced by £1371 to collect an underpayment from a previous year.

Surely this isn't right? Any advice please?

Hi

I would write to the originator at the tax office and enclose a copy of the bankruptcy order. And I would also pass the details of HMRC's attempts to recover the previous underpayment to the examiner dealing with your husbands case.

I'm sure this isn't right too.
