Hi,

I went BR last September and have had a fairly clean case, simple IPA in place, no assets etc, case was pased to RTLU at the end of December.

I know that ED sometimes down to the luck of the draw, but I notice that there are many people who went BR about the same time as me, and afterwards, and are already discharged.

Is it down to a OR office, or a case officer, or what?

thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum,

If you contact your examiner and enquire as to discharge they will be able to let you know the situation.

Normally you will receive a six month questionnaire whereby you update the examiner on your situation.
Usually if there have been no changes to your situation they would look to discharge you within one month from this date.
You only get a short time in which to return the questionnaire and if it is not returned within this time frame you will remain Bankrupt for the full 12 months.

Thank you.

I thought with regards to early discharge, it is best not to ask about it, it is frowned upon etc, are you saying that it is OK to ask?

many thanks

Hi,

It will be fine to ask, I had not received my six month questionnaire, so on month seven put in a call and they apologised explaining they were very busy, but delt with it straight away I was discharged a month later.

Hi Julian,

I put in an email this morning to the RTLU office, and the reply that came back stated that they only send out new I&E questionnaires if my circumstances change :-(

The benefits of having an early discharge, apart from knowing that you are discharged if that is important to you, are relatively minimal and generally of little concern unless you want to leap into borrowing money again, become a company director or act as an MP or JP.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com

Thanks all.

I cetainly dont want to leap into borrowing, but for a number of reasons, the company director part is extremely important.

But, I will just have to wait for the wheels to turn.

I was only sent a new I & E form as I moved house. Other than that I didn't get anything else.

I was also told not to ask about ED as it's a priviledge and you are less likely to get it if you ask.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
