I am working abroad as a result of handing my home back to the mortgage company. I get back to GB when I can i have a contact address there where I stay. The mortgage company have auctioned my home with a shortfall of almost 100k which they say I now have to pay back. I have very few assets and a low income. Can I declare bankrupcy? I was told I could appoint a power of attourney to do this and a solicitor as I am still a British citizen and the debt I owe was created in England.
Hi cazoom - I h ave responded to your questions via the email you sent me - to restte - you are able to file for bankruptcy from abroad, but will need to have a power of attourney to assist you in doing this - I highly recommend you contact Paul Johns a fellow expert on this forum as he is very experienced in assisting clients living abroad and filing for bankruptcy.
