I was told to wait until after I was BR - if the account is from prior to your BR you will need the OR to contact the bank to say they have no interest in the account and then it's down to the bank whether they are happy for you to use it or not.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
It is actually the bank that make the decision to freeze / close the bank account down.
There are not many accounts that are available BUT as a guarantee if you have any form of overdraft / cheque book or debit card ( excluding the coop cashminder account ) then it will be closed.
Abbey were OK with opening a basic account that would continue through Br but it had to be opened PRIOR.
If nyou plan the timing correctly and go Br in the first 10 days of the month then you can ensure you have paid rent / utility bills / essential outgoings and withdrawn the balance for food / petrol etc.
Then if the account is closed you have 10 days to open another account and have time to give yout payroll the details so you can get paid.
Worst dates are 2 days before you get paid. An absolute MUST NOT!!
