My first post to the forum and so scared Im close to fainting!! Help.

Been religiously paying DMP for nearly 6 years and now decided enough is enough-bankruptcy has to be done before I loose the will to live.
So-after many MANY calls to various experts/companies (which I am so grateful!) I have been advised to stop paying DMP and get money together for BR. Just stopped payments to DMP and Im scared stiff of what will happen!? Anyone out there with a similar experience?
I should be able to afford the BR fee's after two missed DMP payments.....at the worst 3.

HELP!

Hi and welcome,

Don't worry, the worst that can happen is that the creditors will start phoning you again - you don't have to talk to them.

If you have decided that this is the way to go, then save the money (£510), fill the forms in here:

http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/doitonline/doitonlinemenu.htm

I would phone your local court to see if you need to make an appointment, as some of them do have a backlog at the moment. Any questions about filling in the form you can ask on here and there will always be someone around to help you.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

hi be strong you will get there .
i looked at all the things i could do i had only missed one month of payment to my creditors and bang i had nearly 500 added to my over drawn bank account ,so after seeking what i found useless advice ,a month later i went bankrupt, yes you can do iva ,dcd, even those guys who say they can clear your debts off ,of course for a large one off fee .
well i cleared them all off yesterday for £510 and i am not the brightest puppy in the basket but i did it all on my own plus help from this great site .what lovely people and we are all in the same boat .
on the net you get loads of companies/sites offering to fill your forms out for £250 yer right ,people have had already had enough of my money i thought .
the court clerk help me once i had filled all bank ect details in at home never sign anything untill you get to court.i learned that advice on here and it was sound as well.
good luck please do not be scared your be fine .
i was getting calls a bank i have been with for thirty years and no probs till last year i told them i was br,d yesterday ..........well their fault they should have been more helpful to me .
on wards and up wards!!!!!!!! ......

Hi, It takes a few months for your creditors to do anything...so DON`T panic.. You would have gone BR by then.

A way to avoid the phone calls, is to change your contact details...easy done with internet banking, and fail the security questions!.

Best phone your local county court, to maybe book a date NOW, as these are busy times. You don`t want to save up the money, only to find that there is a waiting list.

Your amonst many friends here...and i know it all seems daunting...but it isn`t, all the advice you need, is here.

Hi,

Filling in the forms can be relatively straightforward, but it is what you put down that is the important bit, particularly when it comes to income and expenditure and assets.
You also need to write a detailed description for the reasons you arrived at this point and be very clear and honest as to where the money went.
Remember you are one of many and it is just a process to go through.

Hi

You could be lucky and the creditors pay your fees for Bankruptcy, it doesnt happen often but it does happen.

I would ask your DMP Company when they wind up your DMP to inform your creditors that you are thinking of bankruptcy that way they may not contact you

Best of luck, and keep posting
