Dear Sir, I have debt of approximately 32,000 GBP on three UK credit cards, which I am no longer able to pay. My UK company has been struck off and I have no assets or income in the UK. I live permanently abroad with friends and have no income or assets here either.
Please advise on my position and going bankrupt. I have advised the CC companies that I am unable to pay and will not be doing so.
If you have lived in the UK during the last three years, then you will be able to declare bankruptcy in this country. You would have to either come back to do so, or appoint someone as Power of Attorney so they can do it for you.
If you have lived abroad for longer than that, then I don't know what you can do. Hopefully one of the experts can help.
If you have lived abroad for longer than 3 years then you will need to declare BR in the country that you are currently in.
Also, if you live in an EU country (except Denmark) you will need to declare BR in that country regardless of when you left the UK unless you can prove that your Centre of Main Interest (COMI) is the UK.
