we have a car but in my wife's name, which i insured in my name. will that effect my bankruptcy. the car not worth more than £2800 or less.

What matters is who owns the car i.e. who paid for it. if you can show this you should have no problem

Providing that you can prove your wife paid for the car you shouldn't have a problem keeping it.
