I don't know if HSBC will allow any although they do have a basic account. You can give them a call and see if they will let you open an account but you should tell them that you are declaring/declared BR.
The Co-op is normally the best if you are BR. |

HSBC go through the insolvency register and have a policy of closing the bank accounts of anyone who is BR or in an IVA. I definitely wouldn't recommend opening an account with them - The Co-op and Barclays are the most BR friendly accounts.

HSBC and First Direct tend to do this.
I wouldn't touch either with a ten foot barge pole. They are not a sympathetic bank.

Hi
absolute waste of your time to try to hold on to anything associated with HSBC.
Completely their loss.
The COOP on the other hand have an interesting strategy of attractting "Debt Free" people and hope to build a long term relationship with them.
One is obviously a switched on long term thinking bank the other is a global bank with great adverts of birds catching fish!

Barclays are known to close basic accounts if opened before bankruptcy, they did that to me, cooperative dont and they dont mind if you had debt with them that are included in the bankruptcy, they dont do that in ivas.
Barclays are also known to decline people and it is abit hazy about their link with barclaycard.
Cooperative are ok except for the debit card being a dressed up electron which can confuse retailers
their is thinkbanking too

I'd recommend the Co-op Cashminder account. It's a really good account and their customer service is excellent.
