hi again

on form 6.28 it asks if i have access to any other car .well i have my own car and my husband has one as well but i am insured on his car but do not drive it as i have my own one should i say that i dont have access to it? as i dont drive it and we can not do with only one car as i travel for my job and he needs his for his job.

also with the mileage on my car it is under £2000 so i think my car is safe! but on my husbands car his is worth around £3000 but it is cheap to run will they tell him to sell this as i think we will also be putting into a IPA as well and am hoping maybe they will let him off?he also needs a relieable car to take my son to and from hospital to phyiso that he has done regular .

any help woould be good and finally thing has anyone here had any dealing with a 0R from cornwall trying to get a feel for what they will be like down here ..

Hi,

You should put down that you have access to both cars but explain to the OR during the interview that you only drive yours. If the cars are exempt and the OR allows you to keep them they will want to see copies of the insurance and if you are a named driver you will appear on the certificate.

You can put a case forward about the £3k car (cheap to run, reliable, etc.)and it will be up to the OR to decide if you can keep it or not. The OR will do their own valuation on the cars, normally from Parkers, so they may differ slightly from yours. I had mine down at about £1k due to scratches on the bodywork but the OR said it was worth £1400 although then 5 seconds later said that it would be exempt as I needed it for work.

Regarding the IPA it will really be up to the OR. If you are working then you will definitely get an NT IPA where you pay the income tax to the OR rather than the Inland Revenue but if your DI is more than £99 then you will get an IPA. Although ORs are fair their job is to get any money for creditors that they can so very rarely 'let people off' with an IPA unless you are lucky.

Good luck
