hi in jan09 i went bankrupt. i used to be a soul trader. now i have been working for my employer repairing garden machinery for nearly 2yrs, he is now giving up the business and has given me the opportunity to carry on under a different name of course. can i do this, or would it have to be in my wife's name. otherwise in 2 weeks im out of a job
You can trade as a sole trader, but it would have to be in your own name ie 'muscles68 trading as garden machine repair man' and you would be subject to the restriction about obtaining credit etc until you are discharged.
