My husband has been made bankrupt. We estimate we have about £18 000 equity on our house and I have been advised to buy out his share of the equity. I have an endowment in my name I can cash to do this and it will be worth it for peace of mind about our house. Does anyone know the best place to get a forced sale valuation I have been told this is the best type of valuaton to get as it is the lowest. Do you go to an estate agents or a building surveyors and will their fees be a lot?
An estate agent is the probably the easiest and you should ask for a 'quick sale' price. Tell the agent that you are moving elsewhere in the UK to take up another job or something similar so you want to sell the house within a few weeks and not wait several months.
We had to supply a couple of Estate Agent valuations, nothing more - as GOOD explained above - when you talk to them explaing that you have to move away for your job and you need to move quickly. That way they will depress the valuation.
You need a "Sell Quickly" price to be able to give to the OR to reduce your BI amount.
