Hi anything to calm my nerves will be greatly appreciated. Previously posted on IVA forum but advised that bankruptcy is now the only option for husband and myself. My advisor called to say hearing on the 26th October - didn't sleep a wink last night. would love to hear from anyone who has gone through the process to let me know their experience whether good or bad so we can prepare ourselves mentally over the next two weeks. Thank you so much Katie

Hi Katie,

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The hearings go well, it is unlikely that you will even be called into court. If you are, the judge is usually ok.

Good luck.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

There's no need to worry Katie, as we have all been there. In most courts you don't even see a judge and, even if you do, they are non-judgemental (if that makes sense) and will only want to know whether you have sought professional advice and are aware of the consequences i.e. the BR restrictions.

The next two weeks will probably be the longest of your lives but it will be worth it when it is all over.

Good luck!

Hi Katie . . Just wanted to add my best wishes.

I will be discharged very soon and I can honesty say that it will be nowhere near as bad as your thinking/expecting.

Hi Katie, like yourself we have been advised to go down the BR route, after getting advice from one of the firms mentioned quite often on here. At first it was like a punch to the stomach as I thought we would be able to get an IVA to sort our mess out. However after frequenting this forum and its sister site we are not as worried as we first were. The posters on here are excellent and always ready to give advice and lend support. We have to wait until 25th of November for our hearing, so I come on here everyday to keep my spirits up, it is an invaluable source of help when you need it most. So read as many of the threads on here and ask away with any questions you may have, and good luck for the future.

Hi,
Know exactly how your feeling, have had two years of worry, thought might get an IVA but cant afford it. Im finally going BR on Monday at court, I'm shaking like a leaf constantly today, starting to have all sorts of new worries that things will go wrong but this site gets you through, its been a fantastic pillar of strength and you can ask the most bizarre of questions, what might seem odd to others can be the most important worrying thing to you. There is always support from others and superb professional advice so habg in there, Ill let you know how it goes in court on Monday

Matt
