Dear Forum
Are there any problems with the OR with receiving gifts (small items less than £500) from family members, or with family members paying for things like flights or rent for a person whilst they are still BR??? |

No, there is no problem with gifts. When you go through the I&E with the OR there should be an expense item for your rent but if a family member wants to pay it then it is up to them. |

My mum paid for quite a few things for me when I was BR and my partner took me on holiday and I didn't even think of letting the OR know - they wouldn't have done it if the money had to be paid into my BR.

Ok thanks very much for your replies.
So, just to complicate things, how would it be seen by the OR if a BR person were to be helping family member(s) out with a few jobs and the family member(s) were to help the BR person out with gifts / flights etc. - nothing of any great value? |

Are you saying that you would be working for family members and instead of them paying you for your work they would pay you with gifts/flights, etc.?
Although you need to keep the OR informed of your contact details when you are BR there is no need to inform them if you take 2 weeks holiday abroad or receive a gift from a family member and I wouldn't even bother mentioning it to the OR. |

I agree, I wouldn't even mention it.

Hi Gettingoutofdebt and Skippy13 - thanks for your replies!
Kind of - I will be helping a Family member out with a few jobs and they have offered for me to stay with them for a while and help me out with a few things. It is just a temporary arrangement before I start a job in a couple of months.
I intend on contacting the OR to let them know of my change of address though.
