Council Tax Arrears

Our council tax office have now written to me acknowledging my bankruptcy but, whilst giving their heart felt sympathy, say that they are now going to pursue my wife for my arrears, as they say we are jointly and severely liable.

As I am the sole bread-winner and currently undischarged the OR has aleady seen to it that we have no additional income to pay these arrears so aside from my wife also going bankrupt is there anything else we can do?
