Hi all,

I heard somewhere in the last 48 hours that according to the government everybody is entitled to have access to a bank account.

How does this work?? The only bank account I could get was with Think Banking, all my other applications for basic accounts were turned down after going to the underwriters.

I was also told when I applied at Abbey that the underwritters would have to sort me out a bank Account if I was to go BR but they turned me down for all basic accounts.

I am waiting for a pin to come in the post so I can activate the free 30 day trial with Experian to see what has happened even tho I have a good idea, going to see if there are any CCJ's on there.

Has anybody else heard of the apparantly easy access to obtaining a bank account

I havn't heard anything. I am with the Alliance and Leicetser they are not a creditor and I went BR yesterday. When I spoke to the bank they said that as long as the OR said it was ok to keep account they would let me keep it just waiting to see now if that is still the case.

I have applied for a coop cashminder account and have been verbably told its been approved but still waiting for the official ok.
