Hi guys. Its good to see this place is still here to help. I was going to go BR last year but my health and homelessness came along to enhance my challenging opportunities.

GP has signed me off to 2010, although this - apparently - means little or nothing to the DWP ('its irrelevant what my GP thinks' !). I was homeless until May 2009 when i got a 1 bedroom council flat after 5 months of homelessness. The council assessed me as cat2 high priority for housing because of my health issues. Been on low level ESA (pending appeal tribunal date still tba) since Dec 2008.

I have:
Congestive heart failure
Atrial Fibrilation
Diabetes Mellitus - which is currently uncontrolled and i'm fighting to get some balance with insulin
Neuropathy in my left foot and also starting in my right one
Reactive depression
...and my BMI is about 44 (150kg), slinky thing that i am.

My posse of creditors have tracked me down to my current address. My house was repossessed last year and, to the best of my knowledge has been sold. However i do not know what price it achieved, although it is very unlikely there will be equity. I'm concerned about ongoing liabilities if the mortgage was not fully cleared.

I have to go bankrupt soon as i owe approximately £25000 as well as anything regarding the house. My only income is ESA (currently £64.30pw) and Housing/Council Tax Benefit.

I'm having a lot of bother getting through to the court to book a date. Is this happening everywhere?

Can sometime help me out with how much it costs to go BR when on benefits and about the house/mortgage situation? Also I received a community care grant for furniture etc as i lost virtually everything with the house. So is the official receiver going to strip me bare?

Hi,

Sorry to hear of all your problems, but glad you do have a roof over your head!

BR will normally cost £510, but as you are on benefits you may be able to get £150 knocked off it. If you are really struggling, I believe some of the utility companies will assist you with them.

The shortfall on the mortgage would be included in the bankruptcy, so you wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. The OR is not going to want your furniture. They are only interested if you have anything of value, which you clearly haven't, or a car worth over £2k.

As to the courts, I have no idea why you are having problems.

One of the experts will probably be along later to advise further.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

For the £150 rebate you need to complete the following form:

By having bother with booking the date with the court, do you mean that the date is quite far in advance? If so, this is normal with some courts as they are very busy.

The phone number for the court is never answered. getting down there as awkward as i now have trouble walking. I have a seven year old ford focus probably worth less than £2000 which i really need to get around. Should i prepare a case for keeping this?

Thanks for the advice about the costs. Any idea if e-on is one of the benevolent utilities??
