Evening all,

Could someone help with a few things

If I go bankrupt can I still have broadband, Sky TV and a mobile phone?

Cheers

Bob

Hi Bob,

It's generally a case of whether you can persuade the OR whether these "luxuries" are needed for your day to day life.

In my case I work in IT and was able to persuade her that I needed broadband and my mobile for work - I did also convince her that I needed Sky as I live in a rural area I don't get normal TV reception. There are other arguments you could use, say you have Sky TV as part of a telephone/broadband package... The OR will generally let you have a budget of £50/month for telephone calls in any case.

Hi again Bob,

It depends on the arrangements under which you receive, Sky, mobile etc I suspect.

I am BR and have a mobile contract and broadband - I pay by DD. I did have Sky, but have dumped it from the end of October as it is £23.00 that we can spend on more essentials - our choice.

In summary, should see no reason why there is an obstacle for the retention of the services - if I am off beam, someone will put us right...

Good luck, Richard

Hi we have the virgin tv package. We pay £33 per month for tv, internet and telephone. On the application it asks how much you pay for your telephone a month and we put £33 down and never mentioned that part of this was for tv and internet.

I think you are allowed upto £50 per month for telephone anyway so we are under this.

Our landline is in my partner's name so I listed my mobile bill under 'telephone' and that wasn't questioned.

If any of the things you mention are disallowed there is nothing to stop you paying for them out of your surplus income.
