Hi, i moved to the UK 4 years ago and took a loan at the bank to stuydy not a student loan.I have struggled to settle and now want to go back home {South Africa} but cant leave as with the exchange rate i would be unable to keep up with payments. If i leave and fail to keep up with payments is it possible to declare myself banckrupt from there, i do own a house there would that be affected? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

You can declare BR abroad provided you do it within 3 years of leaving the UK. You can either appoint a power of attorney and have them declare BR for you or return to the UK to declare BR at the High Court in London.

All assets are affected when you are BR regardless of where those assets are located so your house in SA would be affected.
