Hi
Not sure what age you are Richard. I am 57 (I suspect you are younger). Anyway, I have just renewed a motor insurance policy for me with SAGA - they are fine and very competitive (But you have to be of an age over 50, I think...)
If not for you, ideal for others to look at - I always associated SAGA with old people!! Maybe I am old now!! Regards, Richard

Just thought that I would put a closure on this insurance mess.
After another very high volume discussion with Norwich Union, they have written a letter to me stating that it was a computer error and they will allow me to stay with their insurance company
my previous renewal quote was 305 (full comp with a monthly standing order) but as my wife is BR they will allow me to stay with their company if I pay £505 but as it is over the £500 mark they will not allow me to have credit so could I please pay in one lump sum.
Now the nice bit from Norwich Aviva, in order to compensate me for the embarrassment of being stopped they will honour my car insurance for £305 but they still want payment in one lump sum. Do you think that they are back peddling and realise that they cannot just cancel your insurance
No Richard thanks for the offer I still do not qualify for saga some ten years away yet but feel that I should be an honouree member because of all these silly jobs worth making me feel 110 + Bloody green army!
Regards Richard

ha ha ha - I feel 47 some days not 57 - I have to say SAGO offer a spledid deal for the "over 50" and I may well transfer my jouse insurances when they are due for renewal
Whats this about "Green Army" - where are you from? I am in Plymouth where the Green Army are featured in the advert - I am not a round ball fan - being of Welsh origin and going to school in Cornwall and finally working in Twickenham for a long time - I like the "oval" ball (not cricket Oval...
Have a great evening, Richard

I have just read all the posts on this topic and never even realised that I should tell my car insurance people that I was declared BR 4 years ago (I still am in the 6 year period). I never have mentioned it and assumed that when I applied to pay monthly that they'd do a credit check and if it came up and was a problem then they'd decline it.
I thought I was finally getting somewhere and now it's bringing me down again! Are we ever freed of this BR hanging over us??

The only problem I've had is when I tried to change my insurer and I couldn't pay monthly.

I changed to the Co-op and I presumed the reason I couldn't pay monthly was because I failed a credit check but to be honest I don't know.
Bank of Uncle paid in the end and I'm paying him back monthly!

I'm glad you got it sorted Richard. Unfortunately Co-op wouldn't quote (flood risk) so we stayed with Lloyds for our contents insurance. The only other company who would have covered us were More Than. Thankfully we don't have to bother about buildings insurance as we live in a maisonette and the freeholder sorts it out.
Personally I wouldn't go with Aviva (stupid name!) on principle after their stupid adverts!

I do find it so annoying that insurance companies think you won't pay just because you are BR and load the premiums or totally refuse you.
You're probably a much better bet than a lot of other people.
I quite agree about the adverts though Skippy - they annoy me intensely, almost as much as the Gocompare adverts which really, wind me up!

Don't get me started on that one either Jan!
The only adverts I like are Compare the Meerkat and Churchill.

Getting a bit fed up of the Churchill ones now to be honest. I quite like the Direct Line ones.
