How does our bankruptcy affect my son? We declared bankrupt last week and now my son aged 21 wants to get a place of his own and take out loan for car etc as well as rent. He commented that if our BR affects him he'll be really angry. He has a very responsible well paid job so I would hate to have jeopordised his chance of obtaining credit of any kind. What is the position re: members of our household? katie

It doesnt affect your son at all. your bankruptcy is nothing to do with him and his credit file will still be in the condition it has always been in.

If you have no joint accounts with your son, then their will be no association of credit files at the likes of Experian etc.
