I know it may seem stupid, but I am struggling to come up with a reason. There is no definitive reason why we have ended up in this mess. The bottom line is we have lived beyond our means and have had our heads in the sand, before finally realising we could not carry on. Anyone any suggestions , please...

carefully worded along the lines of ...not being fully aware of our total income and outgoings deficit.....not realising or accepting we were not making headway in our debt situation........believing that we could ride out the storm of hard times....

Charlie

Chester is right - think about what you say, make it credible and remorseful - but keep it genuine

I said that my business was in decline and made reference to the recession generally

I also had related health issues - stress etc

Good luck, I wiash you well, Richard

I just put that we made bad choices property-wise, we had bought our first house and it lost a lot of value over the 10 years we lived there and we got neighbours from hell, so sold it at a loss just to get away, we got loans to cover the neg equity and we then bought another house (which we were renting at the time) we tried to get our monthly outgoings down by getting a secured loan but after a few months we then realised that we could not afford the mortgage and secured loan. We tried to sell but couldn't as it was in neg equity due to the secured loan, we had a couple of other debts but it was the house situation that was the final straw for us.
