Green Flag

Hi all,

After reading earlier posts on this site about insurance and problems with some companies during bankruptcy, I did read the small print with Green Flag and it does indeed mention bankruptcy. However, I still pay monthly direct debit and they have not contacted me so far in respect of this. There is no way I am writing to tell them of my bankruptcy only for them to hike my premiums up for no other reason other than me being bankrupt. I will see if there is any change when the renewal notice is issued. If there is a substantial change in charges, then I will give them the heave ho. Does anyone know of any bankruptcy friendly breakdown companies (RAC/AA?)

Thanks

You should be very careful with insurance/breakdown companies as they will do anything to get out of paying. If they find out you are BR and haven't mentioned it then if you need to make a claim you may find they won't pay out.

Hi gettingoutofdebt,

I only have breakdown cover with Green Flag, whereas my car insurance is with Elephant. So I am assuming I will be okay as I am not likely to make a claim with Green Flag, only the breakdown cover.

I didn't even think of checking my breakdown cover! I've been on my partner's RAC cover for years, so I don't know whether I was actually covered or not when I was BR.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Hi all,

I've been paying Green Flag £15 a month for the past 5 years and only ever had to call them out once (to recharge the battery), so they have made a mint out of me over the years. If they now start pulling a heavy one just because of my bankruptcy, I'll tell them to shove their cover where the sun don't shine.
