Today was our eviction day for our old mortgaged property so I went down there, unlocked the doors and waited.
There was a man waiting in van and a lady pulled up in her car, I told her it was all unlocked and gave her the keys, she just asked me if we had taken everything out that we need and that was that!
I thought I might have got upset but I feel better for going and now have closure on the repossession side of things anyway.

Just the BR next!!

Well done buzzrock, as you say it is one step on the journey to becoming debt free. Once you declare BR and have your interview with the OR you will be surprised how quickly the time passes and you will discharged before you know it.

I agree with gettingoutofdebt, the time does appear to go by quite fast - I only have 5 months to go now to discharge - assuming I will not get an ED - that is a bonus and not a right!)

Good luck to you and keep posting here with updates or ask questions - someone wil be able to assist

A very happy Christmas to you and yours, Richard

Thanks all,

Good for you debshoebridge!
We also are settled in a rented house which is closer to the childrens school and we're looking forward to christmas now, we just have our BR date to get through in the new year.
Are you BR already or waiting like us?

Hi
When you handed your keys back did you just tell the Building society you wanted to do this or did they start reposession first.
My BR finishes 26th Feb and I am still in my morgaged home, I do not owe any money to morgage company but would love just to rent somewhere to get rid of the negative equity.

The mortgage company had only sent me a couple of letters re missed payments. I was only about 2 month or so in arrears with them after i had lost my job and the MPP would not pay out. I knew they would end up seeking posession of the property and i knew i could not get such a high paid job as i had to fix the situation quick enough. I left "abandoned" the property in favour of private rented on Nov 2nd 08 , a neighbour told me that the property was gained entry to and locks changed by building society on Dec 18th 09. I had no contact with them at all, just took the decision to find somewhere as my own choice rather than being forced to and having to find somewhere in a hurry that i may not have liked much.
