Been to court this morning and myself and my husband are now officially bankrupt!!! We got to court about 8.15 and had to empty our pockets and i had my bag searched while we went through the scanner..oo er!
Waited in a small room (we were the first ones there) then we both got called to the desk and the lady behind the desk was very helpful and went throught the forms with us. We then had to swear on the bible and then handed over £1020 cash which she gave us a receipt for and then we were sent away and told not to leave the building incase our names were called out because the judge may want to see us. Otherwise just come back at 10.30. We went upstairs and had a coffee in the cafe and waited, there were only 5 other people who were also going BR and we were the only ones in the cafe until about 10am when it started to get really busy with all the naughty people waiting for there court hearings and a couple of judges in wigs. At 10.30 we went back to the room and were handed our BR numbers and OR telephones number and were told 'you are both now bankrupt' and the OR will contact you within the next 48 hours. And that was that...it was quite painless, just alot of waiting around.
Thanks to everyone for all your advice and I will keep you posted on how our interviews with the OR go.

My congratulations also Buzzrock
has the OR called you yet ?
will probably do so by friday, then either arrange a telephone interview or office interview sometime in about 3 weeks time,
(if you have a choice) let the stronger partner be interviewed first, the second interview is a fraction of the time but the wait is awful !
regards Richard

Well done buzzrock, glad it all went ok.
Don't worry about the OR interview, I'm sure they will tell you who will be first.
You should both be sorted shortly.
Don't worry about having had to be searched - all courts do that.
Buckle your seat belt Dorothy, 'cos Kansas is going bye bye.

Thanks everyone
The OR called today, he sounded really nice and quite laid back, and he's going to send a letter within the next 10 days.
My Co-op account is all set up now, just got to get everything transferred over from Halifax. OR said he will write to them and tell them we can keep the account because we have no debt with them but he said Halifax more than likely will not allow it.
It's a new year and a total new life style for me now because I also have high blood pressure now, so need to change my diet, get fit and cut out the coffee!!
