Hello I am new here - My brother is in a bit of a mess with large debts & wants to declare bunkruptcy but doesn't know how. Would I be allowed to help him through the process? I don't know how either but I am in a better position than he is to find out. It all looks a bit scary. (he is a self employed carpenter)

There is no problem with you helping him with the process. You, or your brother, may want to have a quick chat with Paul Johns from RevivaUK (http://www.revivauk.com/) as there will be some things to take into account regarding his business before declaring BR.
