I am an ex student and have accrued a fair amount of debt over 12,000 and am considering bankruptcy as i am now on Benefits. i dont have any luxury items far from it, i do however have lots (over 100) books which i will hopefully use lateron for a phd i will be looking to do can these be taken?
Debt relief order seems the probable route. There may well be a long wait to get an appointment with an approved intermediary to help as there are limited organisations who can help. Try calling a couple and see how you get on.
Most Citizens Advice Bureau's have an 'accredited money advisor' who can apply for a DRO for you if that is deemed your best route - cotnact your local branch and have a chat

The CAB will be able to assist you with your initial assessment of your situation.
Then if you need to take a route that involves another strategy - then use one of the insolvency experts on the forum - they are on the left hand side and amongst the best in the UK
