I am looking to get help with my debts and wonder if bankruptcy would be an option. I recently looked at my credit report it was not with the three main company's but a different one. A lot of the debts defaulted in dec 2008 and I have never acknowledged them but there are also catalogues and payday loans on there that are recent also I know there are other debt's unpaid bills etc that don't show on report. The worrying thing is there are five debts on there from an address in Gateshead totalling thousands of pounds but I have never lived in Gateshead so these are not my debts.I am also worried that now I have looked at my report I have alerted creditors to where I live with my family and also worried that looking at my report my have meant me acknowledging debts that in a few months would become statue barred. Please help

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Which company is it with? As far as I am aware there is only Experian, Equifax and Call Credit (aka Noddle).

You need to speak to an expert to see what is going on. If you have never lived in Gateshead then you may be ok but need to sort this. If they are not yours then you have nothing to worry about.

Hi Mark,

It really depends on your level of debt, if you can offer the creditors anything and if you have any assets at risk as to what solution may be the best.

Have a chat to an expert regarding your debts, and I advise you sign up to the 3 main credit reference agencies Niobe has mentioned to look again at your report.

HI Mark,

Don't worry about looking at your report. It's not an acceptance of debt. But as the others have said you do need to sort this out asap. Are you linked with anyone? It will show if you are. If however you are not and you have never lived art the Gateshead address it could be ID fraud and you need to alert the Credit reference agency right away. And if they confirm it then also the Police.

You can sign up for the free month's trial with Experian and Equifax but do make sure you cancel before the end. Call Credit is free via Noddle.

You can request a copy of your up to date record for £2 a time.

Also worth updating this thread to say that you can also now (subject to letter verification) get your £2 reports online as often as you like.
