Hi Andrew,

I agree with what Chris.g has to say it is always easier to rent from a landlord direct, but as Paul says the letting agents won't rule you out altogther, but may require a higher deposit and more than one rent upfront.

Try letting from the landlord direct if possible. Our l/lord was ok from the start and never asked for more than the bond(1mth rent) and the month in advance.

Hi andrew.dc and welcome to the forum

Carl is absolutely right. There is nothing to stop you renting while in Br, however you just need to ensure understand he credit check situation.

As Carl suggests you will either need a larger security deposit ( actually paying X months upfront) or find a landlord who is only interested that they get paid on time

There is nothing stopping you from renting whilst bankrupt.

However if you go through a rental company they may credit check you and could refuse your application. One way around this is to be upfront with them, they may ask you for a bigger deposit (perhaps three months rent) or they may be happy if you have a guarantor, normally a home owner.

You will find the people who advertise in your local classified add's will not credit check, so maybe worth going with one of them.
