Is it OK to open a Savings account after BR?

Basically, I want a place to deposit my monthly contributions towards periodic expenditure (Dental care, Opticians etc.)

Thanks, T x

Hi, thank you for the replies.

Wow, I didn't realise a Savings account would be so much of an issue (let alone require a credit check). Maybe I'll just leave the money in the Cashminder account then.

I couldn't get a savings account with Sainsburys either - they wouldn't open it without an official discharge notice from the court, which I haven't got as they cost £60! I was lucky as I already had a Nationwide Flex Account so I use the e savings account linked to that.

Hi Zoe
Thanks so they do a credit check. Thats strange cos they allow us cashminder accounts.
Oh well im hoping to get one with Natwest, they werent one of my creditors and have been provisionally accepted for a basic savings account today. Just need to wait and see now if they will let it go through.
I have a savings account already with them already but the OR wants the balance all 2.80 on it, i need a savings account to put the contingency money, car ins money and dental monies etc in so that i cant touch it and wont spend it.
Thanks again, i will let you know if i get it, its the NATWEST FIRST RESERVE account.

The Co-op credit check savings accounts so youwill not get one.
I have a joint one with my husband with Sainsburys.

I've seen on another forum that someone managed to open an account with Bradford and Bingley. Don't bother trying the Co-op as it's a definite no no, even if you have a Cashminder account with them. I also had a problem with Sainsburys.
