Posted - 27 January 2010 : 17:12:46 I have previously been made aware that when you live with somebody, their relative income is considered by the OR when working out your allowances in an IPA scenario.
My question is, on the SOA form (I have not seen this form so I don't know what it looks like) how do I present this?
For example, the guideline amount for housekeeping/food for a couple is £387. I earn approx 2 thirds of the household income. So do I
a) put my income and her income down, and claim £387 AS JOINT EXPENDITURE, and the OR works it out that I should be allowed 2 thirds against my outgoings?
OR
b) just put my own income, and claim for 2 thirds of the £387 (£255) against my outgoings?
I know the end result is the same, just not sure which method is used :)

Posted - 27 January 2010 : 17:53:36 If you are claiming for joint expenditure then you would put down something like:
Your income - £1000 Wife/Partner contribution - £500 Total Income - £1500
Outgoings:
Housekeeping - £387 Gas - £xx etc. etc.
The OR normally asks how much other people in the household contribute to bills/food so it is probably easier to put down the I&E as joint.
