Posted - 31 March 2010 : 10:24:20 hi, i was discharged from bankruptcy last year. i am stating to get life back together. i have an idea for a business i would like to pursue. is there anywhere i can get a bank account. i need no form of credit whatsoever, just a place to cash cheques in the name of the business. also is there anyone who would offer a phoneline for broadband? thank you in advance

Posted - 31 March 2010 : 13:58:26 As far as I'm aware the Co-op won't allow their basic account to be used for business. There is someone on here who has been accepted for a business account by Barclays, so definitely worth a try.
If you have an O2 mobile phone (PAYG or contract) they provide a free one to their clients.
It is a misconception that you even need a bank account, as prepaid credit cards provide a perfect replacement.
If you insist on the necessity for a bank account then I would advise going to Barclays or the Co-Op. They have very high acceptance rates for bankruptees. (As long as they are not a creditor prior to your bankruptcy).
