Posted - 20 December 2011 : 20:40:57 If your income and benefits are going into that account, then yes, you will have to keep using it.
Your original question was about using available credit on credit cards not your bank account. Some people don't even know to open a new account prior to bankruptcy so don't worry about using your account. But, stop using your credit cards and stop paying all debts.
Good luck with your bankruptcy, we're all here for you.

Posted - 20 December 2011 : 13:08:15 You need to open a fresh, new bank account and get all your benefits, wages and direct debits transferred over.
The Co-operative bank cashminder account comes highly recommended and is bankruptcy friendly.
Then stop using your old account.

Posted - 20 December 2011 : 13:05:03 My problem is that because I am already in my overdraft and so any money I am receiving from the tax credits to live is only reducing the overdraft. what can I do? |

Posted - 20 December 2011 : 12:01:48 Hi and welcome to the forum. You really shouldn't be using credit cards or an overdraft as you are insolvent. The OR could take a dim view of this and you could end up with a restriction order.
In the lead up to my BR I used the money I would have been paying my creditors to live off.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side. |
