Posted - 02 April 2012 : 11:55:43 An Attachment of Earnings Order isn't recorded on your credit file. However, if this relates to a CCJ, default etc this will be recorded and have an effect on your credit rating.

Posted - 02 April 2012 : 11:35:33 Actually, I don't think Attachment of Earnings Orders are held by Credit Reference Agencies.
If there is an underlying County Court Judgment (CCJ) this will be recorded, but a court action which was not a money claim (and hence did not give rise to a CCJ) will not be recorded.
So you may find Paul that your AEO has no effect on your credit rating at all. The sure way to check is to pull your file from all the Credit Reference Agencies by getting your statutory credit reports for £2 each.

Posted - 01 April 2012 : 11:43:32 Thanks for help, I lost a court case with an ex and we were told to discuss what i owe reasonably, i never heard anything and now 12 months later a non priority attachment of earning has started coming out of my pay at £100 a month. Ive ordered my credit rating. will this prevent me getting any credit for 6 years? if i settled the debt would that help ( not sure can afford to)

Posted - 31 March 2012 : 16:05:59 I presume you mean Attachment of Earnings Order, also presumably if you have one then you have defaulted on your debt which will be recorded on your creditfile for 6 years from the date of the default |

I'm afraid I've no idea what an AEO is. Can you furnish us with some more details please?
Hopefully one of the experts will be able to advise.
