Posted - 16 May 2012 : 11:55:10 I got a call from a debt collector for a debt I had back in 1994 for a student loan. I never heard from anybody since 1994 and now they are demanding £6000, which i believe is wrong to begin with. I would appreciate some help with this.

Write them a letter telling them that it's statute barred but don't acknowledge that you are liable for the debt.

And just to confirm, the statute of limitations is 6 years for most debts and 12 years for mortgage related debts.
Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.
