Technically not, the bankruptcy order only prevents action being taken by the creditor without leave of the court,it is only when you are discharged that you become debt free. :-)

He was debt free as soon as the judge stamped the petition

Hi Simon

Congrats! You are now a debt free man! You should be off the register soon. Mine went on about 4pm so check until then!
Niobe Posted - 08 August 2012 : 19:20:30
Check just after midnight tonight and you should be off - just remember to print off a copy of the discharge notice in case you need it in future.

Ascend may you find no resistance
Know that you made such a difference
All you leave behind will live to the end
The cycle of suffering goes on
But memories of you stay strong
Someday I too will fly and find you again

An IPA has to be in place before you are discharged.

No, you won't receive anything in the post to confirm that you are discharged. As Niobe says you need to print the extract from the Insolvency Register showing that you are discharged. If you need an actual certificate of discharge you will need to contact the court where you were made BR. There is a fee of around £75 for the certificate

The more I have to do with humans the more I think that the world would be a better place if it was run by animals.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.

hi niobe thanks for the reply.that did worry me,bacause i have never ever heard anything about an ipa or ipo? could one of these pop up after my discharge, one year?i do think also it would be courteous of the or to keep you informed of what is going on dont you?

Congratulations!!

I'd suggest printing off a copy of your discharge notice just in case you may need it in the future. It's not unknown for creditors to contact you afterwards and at least you have proof to hand.

Do you have an IPA in place?
