I filed for br in June 2012, my phone contract is due an upgrade - am I allowed to go ahead and upgrade or will I get in trouble with the OR? I have no payment order just a nil tax code as I have no substantial surplus income, the new contact is only £5 extra a month

im due an upgrade with t-mobile on the 16th october 2012,my price plan is an old flex 35 which is about £40 a month, the OR said that was fine as ive had that contract for about 6 years now,so my phone will be worth about £450 - £500,and i claim my t-mobile bills back on my tax as well

Glad the forum was able to be of assistance to you.

I kept my O2 contract on for hubby but just dropped the tariff right down. Only did 3 so that I had unlimited internet access.

It was the same for me. Ex wife put the spanner in. I chose not to keep my contract but 3 were more than happy to let me stay on. I decided it was a good time to break free from everything. I am glad you are feeling better about life. I must admit I am too I will be discharged the month before you

Thanks Niobe - I want to thank all you guys for your help - when I started along this road the word bankruptcy scared the hell out of, but in all honesty it was the best thing I ever did - there was no way I could pay my debts (incurred mostly by my now estranged husband)and the relief that I am now on countdown to June 2013 when I become a discharged bankrupt has been life enhancing. I feel I am back in control of my life and that is so liberating. It was never an easy decision to make, but I'm so glad I did. Thanks again

Do you think my existing phone provider will do a credit check - I don't want to end up without a phone at all just for the sake of an upgrade

Why did you give up your contract? Mine was only £30 a month and I have two children who I need to be able to contact me and I able to contact them, so I guess that's why I was allowed to keep it.
