Posted - 04 September 2008 : 22:17:01 I can second the Co-Op - excellent bank. The Manager was totally supportive when I applied (and got accepted) for the Cashminder on the day I went BR.
My local branch is also some 40 miles away. |

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 14:47:35 Hi Tracy - my OR made a point of checking I had access to money when I had my phone interview so they understand you need to sort out bills and banks etc. The co-op were really good and didn't make me feel bad for having just gone BR. Good luck

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 13:12:04 Thanks Julian, Didn't want my kids to go hungry and also end up in fresh debt by not paying the bills! |

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 13:10:05 Hi Tracy,
That won't be a problem. the best advice is to clear your account just before you go BR. If you've only got a few hundred quid, you'll be fine as the OR appreciates you need money for food and bills. Just remember to let them know what you've done.

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 13:02:51 cheers guys, nice to know i can do it online and i think i will wait till after. Will my bank be frozen straight away, what happens about money for food and bills, will i still be able to get some. |

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 11:30:30 hi tracy,
Best to open the new account after BR as there is a chance it will be frozen on publication of your BR. However, if you let the manager know in advance, there is a great chance they'll keep it open for you (quite a few people have had success in this area).

Posted - 04 September 2008 : 10:59:07 Hi tracy
Our local coop is 40 miles away but we can access on line and through the post office and cp's so its not a problem for us.
I did my account after BR but some did before its up to you, really.
Keep Smiling Jo :)
